Episode 2

#2 Your Pets are Trying to Tell You Something - Episode 2: Arthritis and Mobility

In this episode, recorded live, I once again welcomed the amazing Dr. Timo Tastutar and Lance Schuttler. We discuss species-appropriate movement and what this means for our animals' exercise; running or cycling with dogs and whether or not this is good for them; as well as how nutrition is key to preventing issues such as arthritis. We also discuss functional, metabolic, physiological, and behavioural needs and how this all helps you to make the best decisions for your animal.

This episode follows Episode 1 of my "Your Pets are Trying to Tell You Something" series (#1), where we discussed our animals' skin and coats, what early warning signs they can show us, the importance of having a greater relationship with our pets, and more.

Key Takeaways

  • What is ‘species-appropriate movement’ and what can go wrong if our animals are not allowed to move and exercise as nature intended?
  • The gradual changes that occur in us happen a lot faster in our pets. Bad food, toxins, and poor lifestyle can lead to physical and behavioural problems.
  • We discuss running or cycling with dogs and puppies, typical issues associated with this and how to avoid them.
  • The importance of nutrition in ensuring problems like arthritis do not develop, and how the quality of food and supplements is vital. Prevention is key.
  • We also cover a variety of questions asked by listeners, covering topics such as allergies, environment, and arthritis.

So sit back, enjoy with an open mind - Stay Curious, and Stay Free, and, very importantly, please do let us know what you think in the comments or the reviews. Thank you.
